This ad tells the true story of 20-year-old Rock Kwanlada’s journey to becoming the first runner-up in Miss Tiffany Universe 2017, a transgender beauty pageant.

For once, the aspect of being transgender isn’t sort of “tacked on” like a hipster point to the product, Sunsilk is all about growing your hair long, and Rock Kwanlada’s formative years were all about wishing for long hair, which they now have. And a hair modeling contract to boot! I like the touch when we see the adult Rock and girlfriends that they seem to be the same three girls from school. #Bethatgirl who keeps their friend group.
